Honey Harvest-part 3
Once the honey has settled we put into jars, this year we are doing both 8oz and 1lb jars. We only have one hive and all the money goes back into the bees. From this harvest we got 42lbs which is good going. We hope to do a second harvest later in the season once the honey flow picks up again. It's important we don't take all the honey they produce as they need it themselves to get them through winter.
We use tamper labels and our jar labels are from Thorne who help make sure the label meets the legal requirements needed in Europe.
The money from this years sales will go on more hives. The colony we have are thriving and we want the opportunity to have more hives- so we are relocating!!! We have found a nice little piece of woodland, and although it needs some clearing I'm sure it will be great! I'll be sharing progress at our new apiary soon!
