New Apiary

We have been looking to expand our hives for a while, we only have one and would love the opportunity to have another. Realistically the best way to do this isn't in a garden, my dad spoke to a local farmer and he was more than happy to give us a little spot on his land. The hives will be in among some trees and will face out to a newly planted vineyard.

Here was the site originally

We borrowed a chain saw and strimmer and few hours later the site was clear of nettles and overhanging branches

We then starting building a fence (to keep people out, not bees in!)

The final apiary

Apart from a bit of paint on the fence it's all finished and ready to go. We'll be moving them September time when hopefully there are a few less bees and honey meaning it's not so heavy. Moving bees is a scary but interesting experience- they aren't great passengers!
